Manitoba UFO sightings date back to 1792

manitoba

Manitoba has seen more than its fair share of UFOs over the years.

A new report suggests that there have been over 2,000 UFO sightings in Manitoba in the last 200 years.

The report, which has been compiled from Canadian and US government records, suggests that people have been seeing strange things in the skies over North America for several centuries.

“It’s not a phenomenon that’s a product of television and movies that are going on right now,” said researcher Chris Rutkowski. “These things go back quite a number of years. People have been fascinated with things in the sky and wondering, ‘Are we alone in the universe?’”

The earliest documented Manitoba sighting dates back to 1792 when two explorers reported witnessing a strange object cascading from the sky which “struck the river ice, with a sound like a mass of jelly, was dashed into innumerable luminous pieces and instantly expired.”

Another report, this time from 1967, detailed how Stefan Michalak had observed two disc-shaped objects landing on a flat rock near Falcon Lake. When he approached he heard what he thought were human voices and was instantly hit by an explosion of hot gas which set his clothes on fire.

In 1989 a family had been visiting the Fort Whyte Nature Center when they encountered a white boomerang-shaped object hanging in the sky over Winnipeg. They later recalled how they had watched the craft slowly rotate in the air and noted that it had a peculiar bulge on its underside.

One of the most recent sightings was in 2012 when two witnesses, again in Winnipeg, saw a disc-shaped object with red lights all around its perimeter. As they watched it the craft suddenly swooped towards their vehicle before turning and zooming off in to the distance.

“That doesn’t mean that aliens are invading Canada in any way, but it simply means there are unusual reports of things in the sky,” said Rutkowski.

“It certainly says that we probably are not alone in the universe and that there probably are some sort of alien civilizations out there somewhere but there is no proof of that.”

The Charlie Redstar Flap

The Charlie Redstar Flap is one of the best documented UFO cases in Canadian History. The events of 1975-1976 are a great and entertaining read. I think you will enjoy the information below, it has about everything in that you could imagine, multiple groups of witnesses, drunken teenagers, news crews filming UFOs, radioactive ground material, possible crop circles, crafts of different shapes, sizes, colors and much more.

Charlie Redstar was a name given to some UFOs sighted across Manitoba in 1975–1976, many of them near the town of Carman, Manitoba.  It was described as a red fireball, sometimes stationary and sometimes speeding off rapidly, and similar fireballs were also dubbed Charlie’s “friends” and “cousins”. Other similar UFOs were reported as flying saucers or “Ferris wheel”-shaped. It was often described as playful, friendly, or mischievous by witnesses.

May 16, 1975, near Stephenfield, Manitoba – Three drunk youths were at a party north of Boyne River, when one of them saw a stationary moon-sized red light. After ten minutes, it shone a white searchlight-like beam onto the lake. An underwater object shone below the beam that made the lake bottom visible, then moved towards the shore, creating ripplets. One youth threw a rock at the object, which broke into four, then separated and individually moved “like a conveyor belt” towards the beam of light. The lights in the objects went out, then the hovering object was observed to break in half and the halves moved away from each other in opposite directions. Although they admitted to being drunk, hallucination seemed unlikely as they each saw the same event.

  • June 4, 1975, north of St. Claude, Manitoba – A farmer saw a flying saucer with two domes top-to-bottom, made from a glass-like material. The top of the craft was silver in colour and the bottom was described as a fish-like milky white. He attempted to leave the area but his truck failed to start.
  • July 1, 1975, west of Roland, Manitoba – Three people saw a strange object moving towards them with a bobbing motion. The UFO shone a bright light onto a grain elevator, bright enough to make its nails visible. It was about 85 feet (26 m) across and perfectly circular. It appeared as a similar flying saucer, but the domes were rotating in opposite directions. The centre disk was stationary and appeared to have several oval windows. The object landed in a nearby field, and the three approached the object, but it flew away before they reached it.
  • July 2, 1975, near Halbstadt, Manitoba – A farmer discovered a barren patch in his field of sugar beets, oval and 39 feet (12 m) in diameter. Vegetation in the patch was dehydrated, and a 50 ft (15 m) swath west of the patch was also damaged, but less so farther from the patch. A tripod-like mark was also discovered in the oval.

By the end of April 1976 the UFOs seemed to have left the area, There were some sporadic distant sightings but nothing similar two what had occurred in the previous two years. The Charlie Redstar Flap is one of the best documented UFO cases in Canada but one that is rarely discussed or written about today.

MarkosZen has a first cousin who lives in Notre Dame De Lourdes, not far from Carman, he was a teacher in 1975. He ultimately became the principle of the high school in Notre Dame. In the fall of 1975 he saw a glowing red light that was above the horizon a few hundred meters to the right of his car. For 10 miles it kept pace with the vehicle.  His wife was with him and she collaborates the story. He has no explanation as to what it could have been.

A Horribly Haunted Hoarder House

Dab smack in the middle of the eastern Canadian prairie is a tiny town called Somerset, Manitoba.

hoar3

Somerset is sleepy little place where nothing much eventful ever happens. Farmers, mechanics and a few office workers going about their business. The main recreation in the place is gossiping about neighbors and talking about the latest casualty of old age. The towns population is overflowing with senior citizens. The only growth industry in town is the funeral home.

Eventually the gossip began to speculate that there was a hoarder in town. Now this was interesting, the story really revved up the usually mundane restaurant chatter.  As with all gossip, the facts are usually exaggerated and embellished. The chit chatters usually don’t care if the facts are unknown, they just like the story. But this time it was different.

The hoarder himself admitted that he was one.  Constantijn Vanderrassle admitted to the local bartender that he had in fact been hoarding since the early 1990’s. It started after he retired from the railroad. He loved the things he bought from thrift stores, auctions and the picks he went on. And for the life of him he just couldn’t get rid of any of the stuff.

After repeated requests Constantijn allowed the bartender Cletus LaFlesche to take a look. Cletus brought along his super dependable cannon XZ-500 digital camera and promptly snapped a picture of the living room.

Ignore the date in the bottom right corner, Cletus never did figure out how to set the clock on his camera. Since Constantijn was 92 years old Cletus wondered what in the hell he was doing with a little red wagon. Top left.

A few weeks after the visit something was bugging Constantijn that was causing him to drink more heavily than usual. He finally confided to Cletus that the damn house was haunted. He was seeing all kinds of weird entities. These phantoms, demons or whatever the hell they were, would throw the clustered hoarded things around in the middle of the night. Constantijn just couldn’t get any sleep.

One night, after the two buddies had drank many sambuca shooters and draft beers, they would go head first into the evil cauldron and Cletus would snap some pictures. The things in the pictures made the hair on Cletus’s neck stand on end. It was something out of a horror movie nightmare. Entities from hell!!

And Constantijn did just that, he hired a servant of God to rid the house of the demon trolls.

Constantijn promised Cletus that if the Exorcist is successful, he will bring in the A&E hoarder psychiatrists and movers and get rid of all his stuff once and for all.

Hissing Geese and possible Bigfoot sighting

I took a walk to The Forks today. The Forks is a historic site, meeting place and green space in Downtown Winnipeg located at the confluence of the Red River and Assiniboine River. For at least 6000 years, the Forks has been the meeting place for early Aboriginal peoples, and since European contact has also been a meeting place for European fur traders, Métis buffalo hunters, Scottish settlers, riverboat workers, railway pioneers and tens of thousands of immigrants.

Forks

While on the River Walk came across some feisty geese.

The geese have claimed this area as their own.

Further down I ventured into the forested river bank.

What I think I saw next nearly blew my mind!

squatchx

Standing there with a log on its shoulder was what appeared to be a reddish coated Sasquatch. Oh my Lord!

But that wasn’t it.

An almost identical, but smaller Squatch doing what looked like Tai Chi!

Being a skeptic, I have to attribute these sightings to Pareidolia.  Pareidolia (parr-i-DOH-lee-ə) is a psychological phenomenon in which the mind responds to a stimulus (an image or a sound) by perceiving a familiar pattern where none exists.
Common examples are perceived images of animals, faces, or objects in cloud formations, the man in the moon, the moon rabbit, hidden messages within recorded music played in reverse or at higher- or lower-than-normal speeds, and hearing indistinct voices in random noise such as that produced by air conditioners or fans.

Whatever happened, it was an interesting and enjoyable day.

Psychic Medium Didn’t see this coming

Clearly anticipating the obvious question concerning the accident and his psychic abilities, Blair Robertson joked to the Arizona Republic that “I didn’t foresee it happening.”

It’s remarkable that Robertson could laugh about the event, considering the dramatic nature of the car crash which occurred in late May.

As he and a friend were having lunch at a restaurant in Ontario, a car suddenly came smashing through the window next to them and sent Robertson soaring through the air.

The Arizona resident wound up wedged between the car and a wall, suffering serious leg injuries as well as a number of other aches and pains from the ordeal.

Ironically, the friend that Robertson was dining with is also a psychic and he, too, did not have any premonition about the crash.

So while the pair of prognosticators may be scratching their heads over why their sixth sense gave no indication of the impending accident, at least they can rest easy knowing that Robertson’s sense of humor is still rather sharp.

UFO Seeking Cubesat Satellite

CubeSats

cube1

The first satellite for UFO research is being planned and intended to search low-Earth orbit for any sign of unidentified objects. Dave Shock, the project coordinator of CubeSat For Disclosure says the shoebox-sized device will contain two cameras, “one pointing down and one pointing up.” He believes that the crowd-funded project has a good chance to photograph anomalous objects in space, as well as measure any fluctuations in magnetic fields or radiation readings with other instruments on board. It is scheduled to launched in early 2018 into a polar orbit at 193 miles above the planet. The satellite will be aloft for approximately three months until the orbit decays and it burns up in the atmosphere.

cube

Ionized radiation: we have a scintillation counter, that enables us to measure the various radiation in our satellites environment.  This is significant as it enables us to detect high energy particles, radiation, and other phenomenon.

Cameras: we will use two cameras with parabolic lenses, giving us a clear 360 degree view around our satellite.

Our instruments will allow us to scientifically verify visual anomalies with correlated radiation.  This adds to the burden of proof required for extra-ordinary claims.

Got to give these guys an A+ for effort and creativity. Good luck!

Mono Lake Bigfoot Footage

Video at bottom.

Mono Lake is a large, shallow saline soda lake in Mono County, California.  It is located in the eastern Sierra Nevada mountain range.  The lake was the backdrop for the town Lago in the 1973 Clint Eastwood film “High Plains Drifter”.

In 1991 another film was shot at Mono Lake.  And one of the characters in that film was very big and hairy.

Back in 2008, a science teacher from Orange County, California came forward and presented to the Bigfoot community one of the most intriguing footage of Bigfoot they had seen in a long time. The teacher said his family had viewed the vacation video privately for almost 20 years– not knowing he had captured a possible Bigfoot until his daughter pointed it out to him. The home video was taken in 1991, around Mono Lake, near the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. In the video, a large, hairy, upright figure can be seen walking between two rock formations near the shore.

mono4

Investigators suggest that the figure in the video shows either a Bigfoot, or someone in a Bigfoot costume. According to the BFRO, if it was a person, it would have been someone who was wearing a large, full-length brown fur coat with excessively long furry sleeves.

The witness submitted his report to the BFRO on May 9, 2008 (17 years after filming the creature). Based on his credibility as a high school science teacher with absolutely nothing to gain by releasing the tape– the BFRO believes the film is authentic:

He is a science teacher at a high school in south Orange County, California. He has no incentive to fake this footage or to involve his family in an elaborate prank.

The animal seen strolling among the tufa spires appears to be upright and bipedal and muscular. It appears to have long arms and makes long strides with its legs. It does not appear to be a bear. It appears to be either a man in a bigfoot costume, or an actual bigfoot.

The profile of the cameraman, combined with the random circumstances of the videotaping, strongly suggest this is not a man in a costume — not a hoax.

On May 18, 1991, while on vacation in the Mammoth Lakes area in Northern California, my family took a short day hike to Mono Lake to do some sightseeing. It was overcast and very cold with a strong wind blowing. There was still snow on the surrounding peaks. Mono Lake is at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountains.

I do not recall the location at which we parked the car to begin our hike, but I do remember that ours was the only car in the parking area and that the spot was quite desolate. It was a cold Saturday morning and the area was deserted. At 9:17AM I began shooting VHS video footage of our trek, and after a short period of time we finally decided to leave because of the wind and cold. We went back to our hotel in June Lake, enjoyed the rest of the weekend and went home. The trip was quite uneventful (or so we assumed).

mono lake

The tape went into our family home video collection and for 17 years, from 1991 to 2008, it has been watched countless times by family and friends. So much so that my kids have the dialog on much of the tape collection memorized. On April 19, 2008 my daughter (6 years old in the video and now 22) was watching the tape in the downstairs family room when she suddenly screamed out and began yelling for me to come downstairs. I thought something bad had happened and after racing down the staircase, found my daughter and my ex sitting in front of the television telling me to watch a segment from the tape. What I saw when we played it back made the hair stand up on the back of my neck. And it was something none of us had ever noticed in almost 17 years of watching this tape,

In the final few seconds of the Mono Lake segment just before I turned the camera off I caught something very large and black moving between two rock formations a short distance from where we had been hiking. It was completely black with no differentiation in color or texture and walked upright like a human but with a gate more like a primate. At first I thought it was a bear, but after going over the video many times and finally digitizing and sharpening it I am now unsure what to think. From examination of the footage of my family whose distance from the camera was comparable to that of the creature it is easy to see the distinct details and variation in clothing, hair, face and hands. In contrast, the creature caught on tape exhibits none of those distinctions. The shape of the body does not resemble a human. The head is too large and the arms are too long. And although it does resemble a bear at one particular angle in the clip, the stance and gate don’t add up. It is an intriguing mystery.

That we were able to go for 17 years without noticing this event on the tape seems unbelievable, but in retrospect it actually makes some sense. The segment lasts for only a couple of seconds and the focus is on the lake and mountains which is what I must have been filming at the time. I didn’t see it when I shot the tape and it has since gone unnoticed because one must really be looking for it to see it.

mono lake1

I am not a person who is prone to believing in conspiracy theories, alien abductions and bizarre events such as a purported Bigfoot sighting. I’ve seen various footage and photographs of Bigfoot/Sasquatch sightings over the years and have always been extremely skeptical of their authenticity. As an engineer who now teaches high school physics, I am highly educated and very level headed. If I see something I don’t understand my natural reaction is to analyze it rationally using the scientific method. I do not jump to conclusions based on faulty hypotheses. So in this case, I will suspend judgment pursuant to further investigation. But having shown this video to family and friends whose opinions I trust, the overall reaction seems to be a unanimous “Bigfoot!!” Wishful thinking? Maybe. Maybe not. Either way it is very intriguing and definitely warrants further investigation.

Your opinion and assistance in this matter would be appreciated.

A No Go Zone for Vampires

cross2

The Hill of Crosses is a site of pilgrimage about 12 km north of the city of Šiauliai, in northern Lithuania. The precise origin of the practice of leaving crosses on the hill is uncertain, but it is believed that the first crosses were placed on the former Jurgaičiai or Domantai hill fort after the 1831 Uprising. Over the generations, not only crosses and crucifixes, but statues of the Virgin Mary, carvings of Lithuanian patriots and thousands of tiny effigies and rosaries have been brought here by Catholic pilgrims. The exact number of crosses is unknown, but estimates put it at about 55,000 in 1990 and 100,000 in 2006.

cross1

Over the generations, the place has come to signify the peaceful endurance of Lithuanian Catholicism despite the threats it faced throughout history. After the 3rd partition of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth in 1795, Lithuania became part of the Russian Empire. Poles and Lithuanians unsuccessfully rebelled against Russian authorities in 1831 and 1863. These two uprisings are connected with the beginnings of the hill: as families could not locate bodies of perished rebels, they started putting up symbolic crosses in place of a former hill fort.

When the old political structure of Eastern Europe fell apart in 1918, Lithuania once again declared its independence. Throughout this time, the Hill of Crosses was used as a place for Lithuanians to pray for peace, for their country, and for the loved ones they had lost during the Wars of Independence.

The site took on a special significance during the years 1944–1990, when Lithuania was occupied by the Soviet Union. Continuing to travel to the hill and leave their tributes, Lithuanians used it to demonstrate their allegiance to their original identity, religion and heritage. It was a venue of peaceful resistance, although the Soviets worked hard to remove new crosses, and bulldozed the site at least three times (including attempts in 1963 and 1973). There were even rumors that the authorities planned to build a dam on the nearby Kulvė River, a tributary to Mūša, so that the hill would end up underwater.

On September 7, 1993, Pope John Paul II visited the Hill of Crosses, declaring it a place for hope, peace, love and sacrifice. In 2000 a Franciscan hermitage was opened nearby. The interior decoration draws links with La Verna, the mountain where St. Francis is said to have received his stigmata. The hill remains under nobody’s jurisdiction; therefore people are free to build crosses as they see fit.

People are missing so much these days

With everybody constantly having their eyes and attention glued to the screen, many interesting situations go unnoticed. There are all kinds of ‘out of this world’ experiences happening near people all the time. It just takes a look around to see them. But many people just can’t stop staring into the mind engrossing twinkling little screen. They don’t know what they are missing.

Did they finally capture a Ghost on film?

The stars of a long-running British ghost hunting television program believe they have finally succeeded in capturing an apparition on film.

The show ‘Most Haunted’ was investigating a location known as the Wentworth Woodhouse, specifically a stable block at the site purportedly home to the ghost of a large man.

During the filming of the episode, two of the ghost hunters suddenly stop after they hear unexplained footsteps at the end of a hall.

The pair attempts to communicate with any spirit that might be in the area, but their call quickly stops when they spot what appears to be the figure of a person walking away from them.

Although they are stunned by what they just saw, the duo bravely takes off after the potential ghost, yet find nothing at the end of the hall.

One of the series’ other stars, Yvette Fielding, marveled that “this has to be the most ground-breaking footage we have ever recorded.”

However, in keeping with the elusive nature of the ghost phenomenon, Fielding noted that the encounter left them with more questions than answers, despite seemingly capturing a spirit on film for the first time.

Of course, as with all paranormal television programs, viewers would be wise to exercise caution before jumping to conclusions.

When loads of money is involved, strange things can be undertaken. Was there some CG or other man-made magic involved here? Hard to say.
