The museum has long been a popular tourist destination with hundreds of thousands of people visiting it every year.Founded in 1991 at the site of a 1930s movie theater, the International UFO Museum and Research Center is situated in Roswell, New Mexico – home to one of the most famous alleged UFO incidents of all time.

Inside, visitors can find a variety of UFO-themed exhibits as well as a veritable library of material concerning the Roswell incident itself as well as the general history of the UFO phenomenon.

Some of its most famous exhibits include a miniature model of the Roswell crash site, an alien autopsy scene and even an interactive exhibit that puts you in control of an alien spaceship.

Now the museum is celebrating a major new milestone – 5 million visitors – with an unsuspecting father and daughter from Roswell itself winning free lifetime membership.

In total, around 220,000 people descend on the museum every year from all over the world.

Dogmen have been sighted!

The latest cryptozoological sightings from around North America. A dogman encounter in Maine, where a couple renting a farmhouse witnessed several 7-foot tall wolf-like creatures walking upright on their hind legs advancing toward them. They took refuge in their house, peering from a window on the second floor, and watched in amazement as the creatures stared up at them.  Another related  dogman sighting took place at Mount Baldy in Alberta, where a hiker claimed to have come face to face with an upright walking dogman. The creature appeared to recognize the hiker’s camera and ran off.

Multiple Bigfoot sightings in Wisconsin were reported .  Between 1964 through 2011 there have been 14 well-documented sightings in a small region of the state. Two sightings have been reported at the Lima Marsh, a student as well as two restaurant owners have claimed to encounter a bigfoot-like creature in the area. In another report, a woman digging in her garden heard a growl and turned to find an 8-foot tall bigfoot-like creature standing in the weeds. She took castings of footprints that measured 20 inches long by 13 inches wide.

Some of the beasts look like they are trying to fit in.

Dog survives 10 weeks in Colorado mountains beside dead owner

BBC

A dog who was found alive beside her owner’s dead body 10 weeks after they went missing in the Colorado mountains survived by hunting small animals, rescuers said.

Rich Moore, 71, with his Jack Russell terrier, Finney, had set out to climb Blackhead Peak on 19 August, but never returned home.

Mr Moore’s body was found on 30 October, with Finney by his side.

Rescuers said it was a “magnificent story of survival”.

Delinda VanneBrightyn, of the volunteer group Taos Search and Rescue, said rescuers carried out an unsuccessful days-long search of the steep western side of the mountain between where Mr Moore’s car was parked and the peak.

Weeks later a hunter found Mr Moore’s body in the San Juan Mountains – about 1.5 miles (2.5km) east of the peak – with Finney still alive but weighing about six pounds, about half her original body weight.

A recovery crew was flown in the next day. Finney was taken to a veterinarian and is now with Mr Moore’s family.

The Associated Press quoted Ms VanneBrightyn as saying that Finney somehow survived, probably by hunting small animals such as mice while also managing to avoid predators like mountain lions, coyotes and bears.

“Jack Russells are pretty fierce, I have to say, they’re tough little dogs,” she said, adding that Finney’s “magnificent story of survival” is a testament to her dedication and loyalty to her owner.

“We are very glad… that Finney was returned to the family because they have lost their loved one, but they still have this wonderful, loyal dog,” Ms VanneBrightyn said.

Archuleta County Coroner Brad Hunt ruled that Mr Moore had died of hypothermia, which can cause people to become disorientated and confused.

From the starting point, the hike to Blackhead Peak gains 2,150ft (650m) in elevation.

Friends of Mr Moore told Outside Magazine that he was an experienced hiker and that he had hiked to Blackhead Peak before with a friend.

Mr Moore’s wife, Dana Holby, told the magazine that Finney was very attached to her husband.

Ms Holby was in Montana visiting her sick sister when Mr Moore told her over the phone that he planned to hike to the peak with Finney, and she told him not to go alone.

She also told the magazine she was shocked to discover that Finney had survived for 10 weeks in the wilderness, and that she and her son wept when they collected the dog from the animal hospital.

I’d Like to Report a Small Accident

The ONE Apus is a 14,000 TEU container ship. In 2020, it lost approximately 1,816 containers overboard in the Pacific Ocean, the largest loss of containers in transport since 2013.

The ONE Apus is a 14,000 TEU container ship built in 2019 measuring 364-meters in length and sailing under the Japanese flag. The vessel is one of a series of 15 Bird-class container ships, operated by Japan’s Ocean Network Express, sailing under the Japanese flag.

On 30 November 2020 the ONE Apus was sailing from Yantian, China, to Long Beach, California, when it encountered severe weather approximately 1,600 nautical miles north-west of Hawaii. Heavy rolling caused the loss overboard of approximately 1,816 containers including 64 with dangerous goods. The ship arrived at Kobe, Japan, on 8 December, where it offloaded nearly 1000 damaged containers, and resumed its voyage on 16 March 2021. The weather at the time of the accident was reported as Beaufort force 4 with north-westerly seas of 5 to 6 meters and a “long high swell”. Weather maps show significant wave heights of up to 16 meters associated with the weather system encountered by the vessel.

The cause of the accident is being investigated but probably involves a combination of factors, including the weather conditions, the ship’s rolling behaviour and the inherent hazards of eight-high on-deck container stowage. One contributor to the accident could be parametric roll resonance, a hazard known to affect container ships.

The ONE Apus incident was the largest loss of containers in transport since the sinking of the MOL Comfort in 2013. The cargo loss cost is estimated as $90 million. The ship was delayed for approximately 3 months, and the cost of supply chain disruption for US manufacturers and retailers is not yet quantified. Insurance claims could exceed $200 million.

Weird and hilarious submissions to Ring’s $1M alien contest revealed

Fake alien doorbell camera footage.

Some of the submissions were highly creative.

People across the country wasted no time in producing some weird, wacky and downright hilarious video clips.Launched back in October as part of the firm’s Halloween celebrations, the competition – which offered a grand prize of $1 million – required participants to capture ‘scientific evidence of extraterrestrials’.

Suffice to say, the ‘evidence’ captured by those taking part was anything but scientific, instead utilizing puppets, silly costumes and crude special effects to entertain and amuse.

Some of the entries looked like they had been put together in around five minutes, while others were quite elaborate and could certainly be in with a shot of winning the prize.

One video showed someone simply hold up two alien toy figures in front of the camera while another saw someone in a costume take control of the house’s owner and use his treat-or-treat bowl as a hat.

“There are so many that I’ve seen that have just been incredibly creative and fun,” said Ring’s chief revenue officer, Mimi Swain.

As for the winning entry – we may have to wait a little longer to see that.

“We have gotten a number of submissions that our expert is reviewing,” said Swain.

You can check out some of the entries below.

Possum Dashes Onto the Field During College Football Game

A Big 12 Conference game in Lubbock, TX saw an unusual participant bound onto the field this past Thursday night. It was none other than a possum, romping on the gridiron at Jones AT&T Stadium in the first quarter of a match-up between Texas Tech and TCU.

Yet, the marsupial’s dash in the spotlight was short-lived, as it was unceremoniously yanked away with an animal catch pole, scowling all the way. Moments later, Texas Tech president Lawrence Schovanec was seen petting the creature, before it was turned over to animal control services.

Though it was not adopted as the team’s new mascot, things ended happily enough for the wayward critter, as it was reportedly released back into the wild by the Lubbock Animal Shelter Adoption Center on Friday morning.
